  • Colour Belt Grading Booking and Venue

    Hi team

Hope you've all had an awesome week

As I am sure you will be aware from the information covered in our recent classes its our colour belt grading this week, on Thursday 09th February 2023.

The grading will be at Sandford Village Hall (EX17 4NW) starting at 6pm and will be instead of our normal Thursday training session(s)

Our grading examiner will be Master Ray Gayle 8th Degree Black Belt who is also the Chairman of PUMA (top tip for a potential question there...)

We normally start with our younger junior members, so it's not too late on a school night and they will be dismissed as early as possible.

    Kind Regards,

    Mr. P

    Equipment / Dobok

    • All juniors and adults at 6th kup (green belt) and above will need your full set of safety sparring equipment

    • All members grading need to wear a full PUMA  (white) TKD or LP ironed dobok (training suit) and your belt.

    • For any Little PUMA's just moving up to our junior TKD classes, your current LP dobok and belt are fine to wear.

    • If wearing a t-shirt under your dobok please ensure it is white to match your dobok top

    • The grading will be barefoot unless there is a specific reason (medical) and it also facilitates the use of safety equipment

    • Please ensure you bring a drink with you (if you are in your dobok don't forget to remove your belt if eating or drinking please)

    • If this your first grading (or you wish to update your existing photo), please provide two 'passport sized' head and shoulders photos that we will attach to your grading card to assist the examiner

    • A picture printed on ordinary paper is perfectly fine, if you do not have access to a printer feel free to forward to us to print on your behalf.

    • Parents and friends are welcome to come along to support and watch students grade, however in accordance with PUMA's Safeguarding Code of Practice and our School Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts we politely request that there is no filming or photography during the grading

    • You will however be very welcome to get pictures with Mr P and the other black belts from the Leadership Team at your next training classes for those that are successful with your new belts and certificates

    • Any/all jewellery (including rings, earrings, watches and fitness trackers etc.) will either need to be removed or fully taped over for yours and everyone else's safety

    • We would recommend you arrive either partly or fully changed in your dobok - the venue does have toilets but there are no specific changing facilities

    • Please ensure you bring a drink with you (if you are in your dobok don't forget to remove your belt if eating or drinking please)

There will be some theory questions asked, these will be taken from the handbook for most (all adults and those going for yellow stripe and above), however for our younger TKD and LP members just moving up to TKD, please see the attached sheet for the information that will be covered.

  • Licences

    Licences

We will need all who are grading to hand in their licence book on or before the grading, we also need to ensure all who are grading have a valid (in-date) PUMA Martial Arts licence, if yours or your childs has expired (or is due to) then please please see the form attached, complete and return so we able to get everything processed in time for the event.

Any licence renewal fees can be transferred to the bank details listed above, or bring cash to your next session with the form

Finally if there are any aspects you or your child are unsure of, or concerned about for the grading please do make sure we are aware so we can assist in getting everything sorted - please feel free to email or contact my mobile.

We wish all who are planning to grade this time the very best of luck!
